Each season, Nevada County has special appeal. Springtime brings wildflower walks along a river, fine fishing and mountain bike rides through pine-scented forests. In Summer, its boating, swimming and special events such as the old-fashioned Nevada County Fair. In Fall, the century-old Red Maples of Grass Valley and Nevada City provide some of the best fall colors in the West and, of course in Winter the famous ski resorts of Donner Summit and Lake Tahoe are just an hour away.

Nevada County’s forests, lake and rivers invite outdoor exploration. Drive up State Scenic Highway 20 to Grouse Ridge Lakes Basin and hike to dozens of high county lakes teeming with nature trout. Discover the Yuba-Donner Scenic Byway, a 160-miles looped drive through some of the regions’ prettiest and most historic territory.
